Lancaster, Pa.'s The Sophisticates will release a 6-song EP entitled, "Reinvent The Wheel" on all major digital, streaming and download networks on Friday, February 3, 2017. That means iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, and everything else will have the release for purchase and streaming.

The recording also will be available on the band's Bandcamp page and website on Friday.

Recorded on December 5 and 6 at Parallel Productions in Willow Street, Pa. with assistance from Steve Puffer, "Reinvent The Wheel" contains six tracks The Sophisticates feature in live performances.

Get ready for a record in 2017 ...

A lot has happened since the last time we checked in …

In April we played at Marion Court in the Launch Festival and in September we played with The Undead and co-founder of The Misfits, Bobby Steele, at the Chameleon.

They both turned out to be pretty good gigs.

To close the year, we put down six tracks at Parallel Recording Studio with sound man, Steve Puffer. After mixing and mastering, we will have the six-song record out in January or early February.

Yes, we’re pretty excited.

So we’ll start 2017 with a record, perhaps a few more gigs and maybe we’ll all cross paths soon.

Stay tuned. We’ll have more announcements soon.

Rockin' with Brom Bones, Launch and more ...

Since we last checked in, The Sophisticates have been rather busy. Aside from a handful of gigs and some recorded stuff circulating out there on the internets, the band is adding a few new tunes to the repertoire and getting ready for a couple more shows.

Shows, you say? Yes, indeed. The Sophisticates are playing a special benefit on Saturday, March 26 at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Lancaster's Founder's Hall. Longtime scene stalwarts, Brom Bones are headlining the show, so be sure to get out.

The show starts at 6 p.m. and will be over at 9 p.m., which gives you plenty of wiggle room to plan all sorts of pre-Easter excursions in Lancaster, Pa. on March 26.

On April 22, The Sophisticates are scheduled to play in Lancaster's Launch Music Conference & Festival at Marion Court Room at 7 p.m. The band is only playing an abbreviated 30-minute set that night on an outdoor stage right off Duke Street.

Hopefully the show won't be too cost prohibitive like some Launch sets, so come out ready to dance, mofos!

Millennium Music Conference & more ...

Hi folks ... we're playing at the Millennium Music Conference on Feb. 19, 2016. It's a Friday night and we'll likely go on late-ish, so make sure to get there. Information is forthcoming, but in the meantime, here's a link to read up on the Millennium Music Conference in Harrisburg, Pa.

The gig is sponsored by Pabst Blue Ribbon, which gets the wholehearted support of Frank Booth ...

We will have some more date(s) to announce soon and hopefully a few more surprises and goodies for the new year, as well.

So if we don't see you soon, have a bountiful Christmas and a merry New Year. We are rooting for you!

Pre-show practice session from Nov. 21, 2015

We played the big Angry, Young & Poor 20th Anniversary show at the Chameleon Club on Nov. 21, 2015 with the Olde Tigers, The Ravagers and The Casualties. If you missed it, you missed a lot.

However, we have a recording of our pre-show session that afternoon that you can listen to right here:

The Sophisticates -- Nov. 21, 2015

We also have a few iphone clips of the gig you can check out here, here and here.

Those crazy mosh-pit kids looked like they were having a good time ... then again, it was a great crowd and a great event. Congrats to AY&P for 20 years.

With Hound, AYP and more ...

The band just finished up playing at the American Bar & Grill in Lancaster with Shitty Friends and the Ravagers and has a few more dates to announce.

On Aug. 22, The Sophisticates are back at the Lizard Lounge for a Saturday evening show with the great band, Hound. Haven't heard of Hound?

What's wrong with you?

Fresh off the release of the J. Robbins produced, “Out of Time,” Hound has legit claims on being the best band working in Philly right now. In fact, Hound very well might be the best Philly-based band since Hall & Oates.

We kid you not.

Featuring Philadelphia-area artist Perry Shall on guitar and vocals, Ted Leo & The Pharmacists drummer Chris Wilson, and Katherine Simonetti, a touring member of the critically-acclaimed band Waxahatchee, Hound spent the last few months recording their record in Baltimore and embarking on a short tour of the U.S.

Described by WXPN as a hard-rocking power trio “with serpentine riffs and Motörhead-esque energy,” Hound has gained a loyal following in Philadelphia and New York City as well as with a few “celebrity” fans seen sporting their t-shirts.

In other words, Hound rocks. Hard. So make sure to get out to the Chameleon for the gig.

Meanwhile, The Sophisticates will also play at the Chameleon on Nov. 21 at the Angry, Young & Poor 20th Anniversary show. The Ravagers, The Casualties and Olde Tigers are also on the bill. More info and bands are sure to be added, so stay tuned for updates.

So, what? American Bar & Grill on July 18 ...

Since we last checked in, The Sophisticates played a rousing show at Bube's Brewery with The Blandinas where, apparently, a ghost left a message for the band's singer/bassist, Victoria Blandina.

Perhaps the ghost is the one who called the cops on The Blandinas for playing so loud?

Nevertheless, perhaps the ghosts will show a little more restraint when The Sophisticates play at the American Bar & Grill on July 18? Come on out and see for yourself ... in the meantime, stay tuned for more updates regarding gigs, recordings, appearances and other fun things.

Big things are happening ...

It's been a busy couple of weeks for The Sophisticates. The band played a beer bash along the Lancaster County countryside as the Strasburg Railroad cars rolled by and is getting ready to play a gig at the venerable Bube's Brewery in Mt. Joy, Pa. on Saturday, May 2.

Bube's, for those who don't know, is haunted. The complex has a bunch of restaurants, catacombs and a brewery. Check out the band's Facebook page for more info and the invitation. The Blandinas will kick things off at 10 p.m.

Smart people love The Blandinas.

In May and June, the band hopes to get started on recording an EP while mixing in a few gigs. One of those dates will be at The American Bar & Grill in Lancaster, Pa. on July 18. The Ravagers and the Saigon Hookers are also on the bill.

Stayed tuned for more announcements soon. Big things are happening ...

Weekend update

Another weekend, another gig.

Last Saturday the band played a special two-set show for Valentine's Day featuring nine originals and eight covers with Sgt. Rock, Chris Bejgrowicz, jumping in to sing a few punk-rock classics.

Check out a handful of the 17 songs the band performed right here.

Next up ... the band gets ready for the Launch Music Conference in Lancaster, Pa. in April, though a gig or two (or three) could pop up in the meantime.

Chameleon gig

Thanks to everyone who braved the weather and made it out to the show on Jan. 23 and a special thanks to The Blandinas and The Deletions for making the trip down to Lancaster. Let's hope we can get together like that again ...

Meanwhile, we have a bunch of photos and video clips on our Facebook page and have added a few to the site as well. If you made it out to the show and have some pics you want to share, but all means, post them.

Next, we have a couple of dates lined up and are always looking for more. We also hope to make a record soon, so be ready for those details.

xoxoxox,

The Sophisticates

Looking ahead to 2015

The Sophisticates will mark a new year with their first club date when they play at The Chameleon/Lizard Lounge in Lancaster, Pa. on January 24.

There will be more details to come, but in the meantime, doors at Chameleon will open at 7 p.m. on Jan. 24 and the music will play until 11 p.m.

So stay tuned for more information as it comes and be ready to hit The Chameleon in January.

Launch 2015

Unless a national tour suddenly pops up, The Sophisticates will play at the Launch Music Conference taking place in Lancaster, Pa. from April 23-26. Dates, times and all that sort of stuff will be announced at a later date, so stay tuned.

In the meantime, check out the Launch site for more details about the conference and festival.
